After choosing your Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC), you will be excited to be able lead an active lifestyle again. There are though a few things to keep in mind that we recommend you shouldn’t do with them.
Keep them dry
We all love to go to the beach and pool during these hot summer months but your POC doesn’t need a tan. Just like any other electronic device you’re POC doesn’t mix well with any kind of moisture. That means should you be at the pool or beach or if it starts to rain, immediately put it in its protective carrying case.
Don’t smoke with it
While it is pretty obvious that you probably shouldn’t be smoking to begin with should you be using a POC, this type of activity can potentially be very dangerous and even fatal. While using your POC, you should be at least 8 feet apart from anyone else that is smoking. That’s because a spark can easily become a flame when fed by pure oxygen from a POC.
Small spaces and hot cars don’t mix well with POCs
Never ever let your POC get overheated. It can risk serious damage to both the inner and outer parts of your unit. That mean’s never leave it in a hot car. In addition, a running oxygen concentrator can deplete oxygen rapidly when in a small space such as a closet. Not only will it quickly become dangerous to you but also others around you including pets. A good rule of thumb is to always make sure there is at minimum 10 inches of open space around your POC when running.
